For one of our clients we are looking for a talented Credit Risk Manager to lead their credit risk management efforts and ensure the soundness of our lending practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing credit decisioning processes, monitoring portfolio performance, and developing and implementing risk assessment strategies. The Credit Risk Manager will play a critical role in balancing business objectives with risk mitigation measures to achieve sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement credit risk policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Lead the design and implementation of credit risk models and scoring methodologies to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers and optimize lending decisions.
• Monitor the performance of the loan portfolio, analyze trends, and identify areas of credit risk concentration or deterioration.
• Conduct regular reviews and stress tests of credit risk parameters, including loan loss reserves, delinquency rates, and default probabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, compliance, and finance, to optimize credit risk management processes and systems.
• Stay informed about regulatory developments, market trends, and emerging risks in the payday lending industry, and proactively recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Provide guidance and support to underwriting teams on complex credit applications and exceptions, ensuring adherence to established risk policies and procedures.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on credit risk metrics, portfolio performance, and recommendations for senior management and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA) will be considered a strong advantage.
• Proven experience in credit risk management within the financial services industry, with specific experience in consumer lending or alternative lending products.
• Strong understanding of credit risk principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements applicable to the lending industry.
• Experience in developing and implementing credit risk models, including scorecards, behavioural models, and loss forecasting models will be considered an advantage.
• Working knowledge in statistical analysis tools and software (e.g. Python/R) for data analysis and modelling will be considered an advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into SQL queries and data solutions
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in work, particularly in a fast-paced lending environment.
